Therapy

Gypsy (Always A Forget Me Not Posey titlles) was a licensed therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International, Inc.  The certification required a passing score on a rigorous behavior test and staying up to date on all vaccinations.  She visited many retirement homes as well as the VA nursing home.  Her visits bought the residents a welcome diversion from their daily routines.

She also participated in Doggie Tales at Koebel Library in Arapahoe County, CO. This program was developed to help children who had problems with their reading skills.   First, the kids were matched with one of the therapy dogs.  Then, in a room without parents present, the child would be relaxed and could read to Gypsy without corrections or embarrassment.  When the child would come to a picture, they would turn the book around to share the picture with Gypsy.   It was heart-warming to see the many children interact with her and to see their improvement from week to week.  It was with great pleasure that Gypsy and I approached our weekly visits to the library.
